We have all heard of the new term WFH which means Work from Home, this new term emerged with the start of the pandemic when everyone was forced to carry out their usual duties and responsibilities but from home instead. This new concept has made life quite different for those who were so used to having to rush to office in the mornings. It may have even made life a little simpler as commuting and rushed mornings were no more.
However, on the other hand working from home has brought about a whole other set of issues. Children who need to be constantly entertained, work meetings of the other members in the family and of course all the distractions that come from being at home. Creating a new office at home has been on many people’s minds and believe it or not people are actually investing on their home offices. Home can either be the best or worst place for you to have a productive day. So, to make life a little less difficult here are some needs to ensure a productive home working environment.
Find a comfortable place to sit
For those with small houses or limited space finding a comfortable place to sit can be a nightmare because there is almost never enough space. However, while shuttling between places is possible in the short term if WFH becomes a long-term thing in your life then it is likely that you will need to find a more permanent solution. This space does not have to be large but simply a comfortable spot preferably with a desk and chair. Over time you will notice why having a designated space for work will help with your productivity.
Get a chair
Home chairs are not designed for office use meaning they are not made to offer optimum comfort. When we sit in the wrong posture for long hours back aches, hunching and neck pains are all common after effects. If working from home has become something long term then you should buy the right ergonomic office chair. This is designed to offer comfortable seating and is better for posture. They are available in different styles that can cater to your need.
Noise cancelling headphone
The problem of noise and distractions are commo to everyone who works from home, so one of your best investments could be a noise cancelling headphone. This way your team members are not going to hear your dog bark and you can be productive for a little longer.
Be near power sockets
Our lives now revolve around having to constantly charge different items whether it is your phone, laptops, headsets or tabs. So having your work station near a main power outlet will save you from multiple trips to charge your various electronics. This makes you more efficient and helps save time as all the devices you need a near you and you can switch and use them whenever you need to.
