It is truly an exceptional sight to witness farm animals in the countryside. Animals that have been domesticated and generally raised on a farm for mainly agricultural & livestock purposes. Such animals provide meat, milk, eggs, and many other products in the market, which are utilized in the daily lives of current civilization. This creates a method of income and livelihood for the farmers and their families. Without farming and farm animals, food shortages could be the new pandemic across the world. I have outlined some of the most popular farm animals below:
1. Cows
Cows are considered to be one of the keys to a farmer’s profitability. The cow is responsible for providing famous market products such as milk, cheese, and a number of other dairy products such as yogurt and ice cream. In addition, cows are also used around a farm to plow the land and pull carts. Furthermore, cows are beneficial in providing sustainable production. For instance, cow dung can be utilized as eco-friendly fertilizers and biogas.
2. Sheep
Breeding sheep has become extremely popular throughout the years. The vitality of sheep farming is contingent from one nation to another and is significantly vital in developing or under-developed nations which contain extensive farming.
Sheep & goats come under the group of ruminants, which contains characteristics such as durability, resilience, and diversity of production. Diversity refers to the abilities goats and sheep have in being utilized for a range of productions. For example, consuming low-quality feeds and converting them to high-quality products such as wool, meat, fur, and milk.
3. Horses
In the past, the world depended on horses for agriculture, transportation, and fighting wars. In current times horses are used by farmers daily to do the day-to-day work required on a farm. Horses are also used to move a considerable number of sheep from one place to another. For instance, cows require branding, sheep need shearing, and other medicines. For this purpose, horses aid in the movement of such animals from one field to the next or from a field to a pen. So, horses are vital for farming and require excellent horse care to maintain their health.
4. Chickens
Poultry farming involves raising chickens, turkey, ducks, and geese. Such birds are involved in the production of main foods such as meat and eggs. Chickens are the most common of the four. In addition to the production of main foods, they also produce fertilizer and feathers. Chickens are also low maintenance in terms of food as the creature will consume almost anything, from feed to compost weeds. However, chickens tend to fall ill easily, therefore maintaining the cleanliness of the coop is highly important.
5. Pigs
Pigs have the reputation of being gross and smelly farm animals. Realistically, they are clean farm animals and the reason behind the smell is due to frequent movement from one area to another. The purpose of pig farming is to provide processed meat and pork to the market. Farmers who pay attention to raising the pigs in a proper method will produce quality pork and more nutritional value.
Farm animals are vital for the survival of all human beings, especially those listed above.
